Mel-TV is the Melrose community access television station. It is one of the assets that sets Melrose apart from other public cities of comparable size. In existence since 1986, this station provides local programming to Melrose viewers.
Programs include:
- talk shows
- art for all ages
- church services
- school activities and sporting events
- local events
- local school board meetings
- Stearns County commissioners meetings
Mel-TV also cablecasts live City Council meetings. It provides viewers with a 24-hour video bulletin board that runs between programs. The bulletin board displays area announcements as well as local weather information.
Mel-TV is governed by a seven member board of directors and is operated by a fulltime station manager. Located in the Melrose City Center, the station has a full compliment of cameras, editing equipment, and audio/visual accessories.
Individuals interested in hosting and producing a talk show, videography, or computer presentation can contact the station manager for information about opportunities to volunteer (320-256-3547).
