City of Melrose

Mayor Finken Message

Comments: I ran for Mayor to give back to this great community. With a family and network of friends, we have decided that I can serve best by being Mayor. As a person who is always willing to discuss, research, and then decide on an issue, I will bring a consistent and local approach to our issues. Melrose has a history filled with great success. With the past years we have seen solid growth in our Industrial Park with the addition of Warrior Boats. We have seen increased choices for restaurants with the addition of Cornerstone Restaurant. Plus, the building of Dollar General and of course the growth we have seen at CentraCare of Melrose. No one person was responsible for these successes. It was the Melrose Team, the community of Melrose, that made all this happen. I will continue to work to see Melrose succeed. With the help of my family, friends and church, I know we will continue on the successes of the past and move into the future. My record shows that I can, and will, make the hard decisions for you and work for the entire community. Locally grown and locally built, Melrose works.

City Goals: My goal for our City is to see an increase in community involvement. We have so many exciting events, facilities and programs in our City and community. I pledge to continue to serve and volunteer for you. I will work closely with City staff to ensure your tax dollars are spent in a way that works for you the citizen. Within the next four years, we will see several of our long term City employees retire. I, Council and City staff will work hard to honor those people and find the best quality staff to work for you in the years to come.

With the future bridge rebuild, 2nd Street and Kraft Drive Projects, we will have an opportunity to improve the quality of our roads and safety of the streets. We will develop long term plans and goals to manage our infrastructure. These will include some tough decisions in the years to come. You can rest assured that I will work jointly with my fellow elected and appointed officials to keep Melrose strong and moving forward.
