Welcome to the City of Melrose! We are proud of our community for several reasons. Melrose is a beautiful place to live with Big and Little Birch Lakes, Lake Sylvia, and other nearby lakes. Enjoy fishing or just a day on the beach.
The City sits on the banks of the Sauk River and straddles the Lake Wobegon Trail system which has more than 46 miles of trails extending from St. Joseph to Osakis with a branch north of Albany to Holdingford. We are also conveniently located on the I-94 corridor. Melrose is located midway between Alexandria and St. Cloud, Minnesota – just a half hour from either city.
According to the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association, historically, Melrose has had competitively low rates for electricity when compared with the entire State of Minnesota. This is not only attractive to our friendly residents, but it is also a benefit for business and industry.
Melrose is a multi-cultural city with a diverse Hispanic population and has a wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant.
Melrose has a multi-park and green space system, two churches, and a lively downtown to serve its residents and visitors. The City has an excellent educational system composed of public and private elementary schools and public middle and high schools.
Melrose, through its cooperative efforts with CentraCare Health System, offers state-of-the-art health care services to the community's residents. These services are enhanced by the new 2009 medical clinic and hospital additions. In addition, this health care is augmented by pharmacy, dental, orthodontic, chiropractic and optometric services. Outreach specialists serve the community on a regular schedule. Finally, the City offers senior, congregate care, and assisted living facilities, along with age-in-place opportunities.
Melrose has several large industries such as Jennie-O Turkey Store, Melrose Dairy Proteins, Stearns Electric Association, Melrose Metalworks, Inc., and Proliant Dairy, Inc.. In addition, Carstens Industries is known for its fiberglass manufacturing including duck boats for Cabela's sporting goods stores. Melrose is home for the corporate headquarters of the 10-facility Central Minnesota Credit Union financial institution. Diversicom is also headquarted in Melrose with their state of the art communication services along with their local programming channel.
New businesses, either retail, commercial, or industrial, Melrose is the perfect place to set up shop. We are eager and willing to assist you in any way we can and have experienced staff available to work with you in your endeavor.
You can be confident that all your needs can be met in our community and we hope you enjoy your stay. Melrose is a wonderful place to call home!
If you are seeking a more permanent stay – and we hope you are – Melrose has a wide variety of housing opportunities to meet your needs and desires. For those with business-related interests, Melrose has a new Industrial Park located just off of I-94, experience with incentive and assistance programs, and a desire to help.
