Melrose River Fest (Formerly "Independence Day Celebration" and Freedom Fest)

Usually held weekend before July 4 so that families can enjoy the holiday with friends & family. Melrose's River Fest Celebration draws people from a large area to include high school bands and parade floats from the Twin Cities area, St. Cloud, and surrounding counties. Each year a grand parade is held, events for adults & children, local shopping, live music, carnival, games, picnics, 5K run/walk, beer garden, and explosive fireworks - the best in the area! Very Impressive!  For more detailed information and activities with current event schedule, please go the following link: Melrose Area Chamber of Commerce.

Arbor Day Celebration

Melrose celebrated Arbor Day for the first time April 28, 2006.  Citizens and the area school students are encouraged to plant trees, take in forestry workshops and start thinking about landscaping ideas for Spring.  Mel-TV3 runs educational programs on tree planting and proper care.  The City of Melrose is officially certified as a Tree City USA municipality by the National Arbor Day Foundation. http://www.arborday.org/

Merchants Expo

The Merchants Expo is held in late March or early April and showcases local and area businesses.  Educational programs for the community and local health and construction ideas are also presented.  The event is normally held at the Melrose Area High School.

Miss Melrose Pageant

This annual pageant focuses on talent, evening gowns, and personal interviews of 6 to 12 contestants who then represent Melrose in various city events and at parades and pageants in other communities.  Miss Melrose is featured in the annual River Fest Celebration parade.

Holiday Kick-Off

The annual holiday kick-off is held on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The kick-off generally includes a business lighting contest, parade of lights, free cider or hot chocolate, and shopping discounts by many local businesses.
