Electric Department
The Electric Utilities Department consists of an Electrical Supervisor and three full-time Journeymen Line Workers. There are 1332 residential, 299 commercial, 2 industrial and 55 rural electrical customers. The electrical load on the electric system has reached 21 megawatts. The Electric Utilities also has four diesel power generators with a total of eight megawatts of capacity which could be used for an extended length power outage. The generation capacity is also used by Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) for peaking and their electrical power needs. Melrose power suppliers are MRES and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA).
