Mayor's Message

Welcome to the City of Melrose!  We are very proud of our community for several reasons.  First, Melrose is a beautiful place to live with Big and Little Birch Lakes, Lake Sylvia, and other nearby lakes.  Melrose sits on the banks of the Sauk River and the Lake Wobegon Trail system and the Interstate 94 corridor.  Melrose is located in between Alexandria and St. Cloud, MN.  It is just a half hour to either city.

According to the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association, Melrose has the lowest rates for electricity in the entire state of Minnesota.  This is not only attractive to our friendly residents, but it is also an attraction for business and industry.

Melrose has three parks, two churches, and a lively downtown.  We have an excellent public and private Elementary and High School system.

Melrose offers a state of the art hospital and medical clinic, other medical services include a pharmacy, dentist, orthodontist, chiropractor, optometrist and assisted living facilities.

Melrose has several large industries such as Melrose Dairy Proteins, Jennie-O Turkey Store, and Stearns Electric Company.  Melrose is the host city for the ever expanding Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union.  Carstens Industries is known for manufacturing duck boats for Cabela's sport stores.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Melrose.  If you are seeking a more permanent stay, Melrose has completed various new housing developments.  For the business savvy, Melrose just completed an Industrial Park located just off of I-94.  The  first building was completed in the Fall of 2005.

Thank you for visiting our website and don't forget to contact the local Chamber of Commerce for annual events and activities.

Respectfully,

Mayor Eric Seanger
