Happy Arbor Day! Did you know that planting trees around your home
can help cut down on heating and cooling costs? In the summer, leafy
deciduous trees provide shade, keeping your home cool and reducing
the need for air conditioning. In the fall, they shed their leaves, letting in
sunlight to naturally warm your home in the winter.

Celebrate Earth Day by saving energy! Every small action makes a big
difference!
• Upgrade to a smart thermostat for better efficiency
• Seal leaks around doors and windows to keep the air in
• Switch to LED bulbs — they use 75% less energy than incandescent!
• Clean or replace filters and coils in home appliances for optimal
performance
• Embrace natural light — open the blinds and let the sunshine in!
Every day is Earth Day for public power! Our commitment to renewable
energy will help protect the plant for future generations.

Last night the City Council had the honor of celebrating life-saving awards for Allison Hiltner, Tyler Welle, and Gina Eggert. We are proud of our local ambulance service.

At last night’s City Council meeting we welcomed this year’s group of students, and their teachers, from Buhl, Germany for the Student Exchange Program with Melrose High School. Each year the German class at the Melrose Area High School and the Buhl High School travel to each other's country to learn more about each other's country and city cultures. Welcome to Melrose! We hope you enjoy your time with us.

We’re here — to keep you safe.
Winter weather is more than capable of bringing down power lines and
utility poles. When storms cause damage, local crews can respond in
minutes and keep our community safe.
Reminder: If you encounter a downed line, be sure to stay at least 30 feet
back. #Reliability #SafetyTips

At City of Melrose, we are committed to ensuring everyone in our
community has access to affordable and reliable power. Public power is
community powered! That’s something to love a watt!
