May is National Electrical Safety Month — a perfect time to check your
outlets. Avoid overloading them to prevent fires or costly electrical
damage. Be aware of flickering lights, tripped breakers or warm outlets, as
these could indicate a problem with the wiring or the outlet itself.

The maintenance work on the north water tower is complete. Thank you for your patience.

Stearns County will be hosting a public open house at Melrose City Hall on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm to present proposed changes.

Happy Arbor Day! Did you know that planting trees around your home
can help cut down on heating and cooling costs? In the summer, leafy
deciduous trees provide shade, keeping your home cool and reducing
the need for air conditioning. In the fall, they shed their leaves, letting in
sunlight to naturally warm your home in the winter.

Last Wednesday, the City Council congratulated the 2025 Knowledge Bowl Class AA State Champions from Melrose Area High School, along with their coaches.

Celebrate Earth Day by saving energy! Every small action makes a big
difference!
• Upgrade to a smart thermostat for better efficiency
• Seal leaks around doors and windows to keep the air in
• Switch to LED bulbs — they use 75% less energy than incandescent!
• Clean or replace filters and coils in home appliances for optimal
performance
• Embrace natural light — open the blinds and let the sunshine in!
Every day is Earth Day for public power! Our commitment to renewable
energy will help protect the plant for future generations.

It’s National Work Zone Awareness Week! Please slow down and stay alert
in work zones —whether it’s utility workers or road crews, using extra caution
when behind the wheel could save a life. Respect the zone, so we all get
home!
